Wishlist for Erika M., March, 2014
Urban, professional, edgy, sophisticated
Per your request, this month is all Zara all the time. Because we are entering spring, you'll see more colors and layering pieces that transition from cold weather to warm. This time we have fewer dresses to make sure you've got a nice balance of pieces in your closet. I'm always happy to change it up, if you desire. Just let me know!
As always, if you have requests from month to month, just let me know. Also, if you decide to purchase any items, please begin by clicking on this page as it may result in a commission for Poplin. Thank you!

Spring is here! So fun, so classy and you can still give them an urban edge. Pair them as pictured OR try a white tee, your leather jacket and nude wedges. Alternatively, they'd be great with a navy print or black/white stripes. Print or textured shoes would be sophisticated and add dimension to the outfit. Last month I suggested the black and white striped D'Orsay flats. Those would be smashing with these trousers.
The yellow pair are a cotton/poly blend. That means less ironing (yay!) and less shrinkage. The green/red/khaki pair are more affordable and 98% cotton.
P.S. I'm only counting these trousers as one item, after all they are so similar.
You totally have the body for these. So, I'm suggesting them. Shorts are essential for spring and these manage to have a real edge to them because of the simple design and the windowpane print. Try them with a basic long sleeved t-shirt and Zara's version of urban Birkenstocks (AKA patent leather) or go more polished and add a light suit jacket. Matching the black and white is easy. Just keep it simple- solid colors. Polka dots are also a great match, but you'd want to balance that with something polished (like the blazer) and edgy shoes to maintain your urban aesthetic.
You need this. It matches everything. It's crazy current. It's easy. It's urban. You need it. That is all.
I am obsessed with this. The vertical stripe elongates your frame and the white or dusty pink are subtle enough for your top half. Wear it with a nude cami underneath for something a little racier on the weekend. Or, try the chambray shirt underneath and a blazer on top for multiple layers in the cold. Colored pants, patterned shoes and a clutch and you are good to go. Peel layers for more options. So good. There is additional detail on the arms. Good stuff all around.
If you are going to rock a heel, these are right on trend and super functional. The ankle strap and multicolor design are great for balancing your frame. Plus, the black/white will be easy to pair, while keeping things interesting. Love these with any of the colored pants. Plus, they are great with skirts, regardless of shape. Your dusty rose skirt, for instance, would pair nicely with these and a basic on top. Or try the chambray shirt, colored pants (or skirt) and these with a white or black handbag. So spring! So sophisticated!
Channelling your grey coat with the leather sleeves, this indoor gem is great for your shape and your personal style. The deep v with zippers at the hips is all about showing off your best assets. It's crazy functional and can be paired with virtually anything. Plus, it's work appropriate. It's a great way to add warmth without looking frumpy. Try it with the heels above and you are unstoppable.
Things I'm obsessed with right now: neoprene, navy blue and midis.
Things that are especially lovely on you. All three. The neoprene is urban and crazy functional- no ironing required, easy to wipe off any spills, it's virtually indestructible. The cut of this dress adds depth to the bottom of your body and it can be easily worn to work or after rolling out of bed on a Sunday. Dress it up, down, with heels with sandals, with boots. I really can't say enough about what a great layering piece it is. Most importantly, it is sophisticated, but not boring. Go!
Also, if you decide to purchase any of the items listed above, please start with the link on this page:) I'm excited to create these for you monthly and want to ensure they are always inspiring and useful. I hope that your personal style plan is a helpful reference as you build a wardrobe that is reflective of your style: sophisticated, edgy, urban and professional.
This is the sort of thing I can see you loving. It's reversible. What?! Yes!
Crazy practical, cool and a fabulous value. You'd use it all the time and be able to profess the joy of Zara, the price and versatility.
