Wishlist for Heidi S., February, 2014
Urban, Edgy, Sophisticated & Professional
Huzzah! Time to restart your wish lists. Per your request I've included items that are forgiving, a little sexy and still appropriate for work with a number of black tops. Because of your discount, I've balanced Nordstrom items with Club Monaco. I was in the store and saw you everywhere- so your list is limited to the two retailers for this month. Flattering for your figure and functional for your lifestyle, I hope you enjoy the items below. So exciting! I could go on all day.
FYI- I removed your photos on your personal style profile and moved the links to your wish lists to the top for your convenience. If you decide to purchase any items, please begin by clicking on this page as it may result in a commission for Poplin. Thank you!

Yes and yes! So rock and roll, so flattering, so crazy attention-getting and still comfortable. The leather means that you should be warm enough into spring without a cardigan. Try this with either of your minis (the American Apparel or the grey/black mini). The subtle patterns can be combined. I can also see this with jeans or the white/black skirt below. It's a little pricey, but with your discount, I think it's worth it. Plus, if you wait it out, it may go on sale:)
It's always nice to throw a pair of pants in the mix. These can be paired so easily with your array of black and grey. They are edgy, flattering and are wearable right now as well as into spring.
How about a little grey in the mix? This would be lovely with your grey/black mini. It's interesting, a little sexy and still appropriate for work. Pair it with jeans and a blazer when you want to be super comfortable and still look polished. Urban, edgy, sophisticated and still highly functional. Love.
A go to piece, for sure. I especially like the fabric because it is very forgiving. The deep V is perfect for an evening out. It may require a cami underneath for the office. Easy to wear, easy to pair. Try this with your American Apparel skirt or the grey/black floral mini, among other things. The affordability means that you can buy more than one, if you'd like and avoid laundry. Add in your discount and it's almost like they are paying you:)
I can see you wearing this every day. The color is great for you and can easily be paired with your grey, black, dark brown and navy. Plus, the sleeves allow you to wear it sans a cardigan or jacket and be comfortable all day.
I believe the words you used were, "sexyish but wearable for work." Done! Clearly, a tank is in order, but this Trouve top is edgy, affordable and black without being at all boring. I especially like it under a blazer with a deep v-neck. Add some racy heels and you are turning heads without worrying about the gym. Feel free to add a long simple silver necklace to make it a little dressier. It may be a little too long with your minis, but try it with the jacket to be sure.
I don't love this one styled with a collared shirt underneath, but I DO love it for you heading into spring. It's even better in person. Short and boxy it is flattering for your body. Plus, the quilted texture is on trend without being too trendy. Try it over a t-shirt or dress it up with a skirt and boots. The skirt below would be pretty great, for instance.
Also, if you decide to purchase any of the items listed above, please start with the link on this page:) I'm excited to create these for you monthly and want to ensure they are always inspiring and useful. I hope that your personal style plan is a helpful reference as you build a wardrobe that is reflective of your style: sophisticated, edgy, urban and professional.
Racy, but still appropriate. I love this for you because it has an edge and the white takes it right into spring. I can see you easily pairing this with your array of black tops or your leather jacket. Wear it now with boots or in the spring sans hosiery.
This one is available in navy (as show) or black. I like both for you but thought I'd show you a little navy action. The structured shoulder is great for your petite shoulders. With attention getting details at the collar and near the hips, this is especially flattering for your figure. I can see you rocking it out over a t-shirt or a more sophisticated piece. It coordinates nicely with your American Apparel skirt or the grey/black mini you purchased and is a more professional alternative to a cardigan.
Because you can appreciate navy and black together, I thought you might enjoy this over a black ensemble. Why not?
Let me know how you feel about this brand for future reference. I'm balancing designer with trendy and affordable.
I seriously love this. It's a risk because of the shiny top and I'd want to be sure the fabric allows a nice fit for you. But, if it does, it's crazy awesome. Powerful, hot and yet still office appropriate. It takes your love of black into spring, which is exciting. I'm a big fan with heeled knee high black boots or a strappy sexy heel. I couldn't resist, so this one is a bonus.
