It's made in America. It's crazy fun and still very classic. It comes in petite sizes AND it would look incredible with your colored loafers for a preppy look or your sneaker for more of a funky vintage inspired approach. Try it with a denim jacket or even a zip up hoodie. Or both at the same time! Wear it as a dress with a crew neck fitted sweater that is cropped.
Let's get right to it, you desperately need fitted tees. I selected the long sleeve option due to the weather, but the short sleeve choices are great, too. Love these solids to tone down your bold shoes and pants. You can go for a more expensive American Made option, if you'd prefer. Just make sure you have this fit to show off your balanced shape.
You requested some kick ass ankle boots. Here they are! I am a big fan of these and hope that the heel isn't too high. These are powerful, current and still very classic. They'd be great with navy or black tights and a dress. Or, try them with your new Madewell jeans. Your loafers take you to your classic, preppy place. These channel your vintage, quirky side. Both complement your wardrobe nicely. I especially like these with your floral and ethnic inspired tops.
American Apparel makes the best tights. They just do. Other great options are Hue or Spanx, both available at Nordstrom. For you, I'm recommending AA because they have an endless variety of colors. Susan will undoubtedly chat with you about colored tights, I think you might want to stick with navy blue, grey and black. But, I do want to give you the resources to find other options, if you are interested in them. Remember, if you opt for exciting tights, keep the rest of your outfit mellow. Textured tights could also work for you. I'd go with neutrals there, too.
You should also know that sheer hosiery are coming back. So when you opt to get dressed up, you might try those. On a more casual day, opaque are perfect.
I selected this shot to show you how to style these pants. They are SO you. The pockets and relaxed fit keep them functional and obviously, they are fun. I love them styled with a navy and white striped shirt. Again, add your denim jacket or a chambray overshirt to stay warm. A navy circle scarf would also be a great complement to this look.
This one is pricey, for sure. But, it's made by a Seattle maker and I can see you living in it. It can be made in any color, so please go with either a solid navy to pair with brighter accents or a power color that you can wear repeatedly. It's reversible, which is exciting. PROMISE me that you'll wear it with a fitted tank or long sleeved- tee like in the photo. We want to show off your figure. If you purchase at Velouria, just let them know I sent you:)
Love this with your colored pants. Or, alternatively, try your Madewell jeans and a colored shoe. Try it with a basic fitted t-shirt and your sneakers or a dressier top with your electric blue loafers. You can also try a floral shoe with this one, just keep everything else solid. Also, Ann Taylor has frequent sales online, so don't buy this one full price.
At this point you can never have too many denim shirts or jackets. Your personal style is a balance between classic and relaxed, so we want people to feel they can both approach you and respect you. The way to accomplish that (without words) is to complement your preppy pieces (loafers, bold chinos, etc.) with something more relaxed such as a denim shirt or jacket, a pair of sneakers, etc. Make sense? This one is great because it is fitted and it is Halogen, a Nordstrom brand. Nordstrom's Corporate Social Responsibility teams ensure that fair practices are taking place in their factories overseas. In fact, they often support education and access to family planning, etc. for employees. Super awesome.
It is true that when I visited your closet we discussed a navy blue a-line skirt or a denim skirt. Both would still be great fits for you and supplement your wardrobe nicely. They'll also be pretty easy to locate. This one, well, it's just too perfect for words. Classic, bold, fun and still easy to pair, it can coordinate nicely with so many of your tops. Try it in the cold weather with black opaque tights. In the warm weather, it's perfect to go with polka dots, stripes, floral prints, even the perfect band t-shirt and a blazer. This is a keeper for years to come. Fear not. I can help you make some outfits with it, for sure!
