Classic, Current, Daring, A bit of an edge and Functional
Sample Uber Wishlist, October, 2015
It's finally here! Our conversations and your Closet Edit revealed your desire to balance edgy, unexpected and classic pieces. It's clear that you have quite a few lovely tops that communicate your personal style if paired properly. With that in mind, I'm including a very limited number of tops to focus more on building out the rest of your wardrobe. Also, I found quite a few pieces for you (more than is normally included in an Uber Wishlist) so rather than edit pieces out, I've opted to group them together a bit. Enough talk. Off we go!
Accessories are a great way to draw attention to different areas of your body, maximizing your body shape. Some high quality pieces elevate your look and make everything seem more expensive. I like this option from Rachel Zoe. The white brightens up a darker color palette and still coordinates effortlessly with a wide variety of pieces.
Your outerwear is an essential component of your look. For you, this leather detailing communicates an edgier side and the fitted shape gives the illusion of curves. I'm opting for black because I'm including a variety of colored pieces on the bottom. So a black coat will be helpful. However, the colored jackets may be warm enough in the fall, spring and summer.
Right now you aren't carrying a handbag, but your computer travels with you everywhere. Why not kick things up a notch with a timeless (but not boring) laptop bag? It's also easier to identify yours in a crowd. Burgundy works well for you and you love it. This brings extra visual interest to your look and will coordinate effortlessly with your pieces.
A clutch is a magical thing. Toss it inside a larger bag and just pull it out for coffee runs. Or, use it as the outside bag and just keep tiny bag for your phone and keys. This Vince Camuto is functional and still draws you in. Plus, it works effortlessly for entertaining clients out or running to the grocery store on a Saturday.
Because you run cold, I'm offering up several layering pieces to keep you warm without sacrificing your look. This is the ideal jacket for you. The lines create curves, it works well with the majority of your pieces (trust me, I'll show you how) and it shows off your frame. Whether you use it as an outer layer over a sweater with jeans, joggers or leggings and sneakers or boots OR you amp it up for the office with wide leg trousers a dressy blouse and heels, it will quickly become a go-to. And, the price is crazy!
You need a jumpsuit or two. You are daring and have an awesome figure. The right jumpsuit capitalizes on both. This one creates curves and can be worn solo, with a jacket or cardigan over top or transform it into a pair of pants by tossing a cowlneck sweater over top. (That's a dicey situation when you head to the restroom, so allow yourself extra time.) I like this with the jacket above and the heels below. Feel free to toss the Rachel Zoe necklace and bracelets on, too!
These are your new red heels. Pointy toe is your preference and unexpected elements compliment your body and your style. Yes! You can rock these with the jumpsuit above and the vast majority of pieces on this list.
Gold is all the rage for you right now and looks lovely on your skin. This set of bangles is unusual and functional. Pair it with anything you own and hit the town. It's an easy way to elevate your look without having to think too hard. And, you can rock these everyday as your signature pieces, if you'd like. So easy.
Some days, you just want to roll out of bed, put something on and look fabulous. This dress does the trick. In colder weather, feel free to add tights and boots. That may make you feel more comfortable with the level of the slit, as well, depending on the destination. Toss the dark purple jacket over top and add ankle boots or the burgundy heels. Alternatively, go for a scarf and a long cardigan with a belt.
It's time to bring your ankle boots into the mix. These are comfortable, unexpected and have a nice pointy toe. Magic. Pair them with leggings, jeans, trousers or skirts. I like them with the dress above, as well. Navy and black are great together. Fear not.
A great striped shirt is the neutral of dreams. Pair it with most prints on the bottom to balance things out. I like this one from Boden. The fit is great as is the quality. There are several color combinations. I vote for something with navy because that will help you integrate your navy pieces. This can absolutely work for the weekend or a Friday at work. I also am a big fan of this underneath your Seahawks gear.
Functional and cozy this navy cardigan can be amazing or frumpy. You decide. Rock it with something fitted underneath and some lift to make it especially elegant. I like it with one of your silk tops and a pencil skirt with heels or heeled boots. On the weekends, try it under the navy vest, with a basic white or grey tee and your vegan leather leggings. Believe it. They are further on the list. Your blue sneakers complete that look nicely.
Orange vegan leather culottes! Yes, please! These will look stunning on you and as a fan of orange, I'm confident you can carry the look. Try them with the striped shirt, navy cardigan, navy vest and nude heels. Or, a silk top and either of the grey jackets further down. You'll be surprised at how well these actually do work with a wide variety of pieces. And, so flattering for your figure!
I adore this jacket so much, I bought it for myself. A flattering fit that shows off your waist and a nice alternative to the standard suit jacket, you can pair this with skirts, culottes, trousers or over dresses. It's a nice balance to leather or vegan leather, so you'll see it becoming especially useful as the number of those items in your closet climbs. Soften a silk top with this and pair with jeans and heels or boots. Done and done.
Yes, it takes a little adjusting to get into the vest zone; but once you do, your life will change. Replicate the outfit in the photo with your black culottes or any of the culottes on this list. Love this navy vest with the orange culottes, for instance. You can also rock this with jeans, skinnies, wide leg pants with a heel and so much more. Feel free to wear it with a tank, long sleeves or some short sleeve options. A great neutral piece to make the mundane look more sophisticated. Also, navy has a lot of potential for Seahawk game days.... Try this with white skinnies and the game day shoes. You can add a team piece (the hoodie, a tee, etc.) or just rock the team colors. Alternatively, your navy/white striped tee with this vest and jeans or skinnies is a great team look. Add green shoes to seal the deal.
Two jumpsuits for you! Hello auction. Sexy, classic and yet very modern this deep V jumpsuit is flattering for your frame and shows confidence. Toss a blazer or any jacket/ sweater on this list over top for a more professional look. Then, remove the cover up for a sexy night out.
Green on green! Wear this over top the jumpsuit, if you dare. This unexpected piece will be the talk of the town and suede is so on trend. Plus, remember that green and blue are neutrals, so they'll pair easily with this list and a good portion of your wardrobe. A flattering cut and a piece that works as easily for the workday as the weekend and evenings. Yes, please.
Both colors are lovely for you and work well with your new and existing pieces. Plus, they minimize your stomach. The price is right and why not pick up a designer piece or two, if you can. Vince is crazy popular with clients as it holds up so well over time and has flattering cuts and luxurious fabrics. Layer these over dresses, under jackets, with the vest and on the weekends or during the week. Love them with culottes, wide leg pants, skinnies and skirts.
These last forever and you can choose from an array of colors.
Culottes! You can go beyond the black pair. These work with your myriad tops and can be dressed up or down. And the price?! Thanks, Old Navy.
You are in desperate need of some new heels. These nude options are edgy, sophisticated and you can walk in them. I thought I'd give you some options as various price points.
Because you wish everything felt like pajamas, it is vital that I offer up pieces that you feel you can wrap up in on a dreary day. This boiled wool jacket is edgy, sophisticated, flattering for your frame and will work with the entire list. Plus, it minimizes your stomach, which always feels good. Weekend? Weekday? Night out? Check, check, check.
All three of these skirts make me so happy! Each one coordinates well with your new and existing pieces. They all are crazy flattering for your figure and have an edge. Choose from the options or get all three. And if you are wondering, each one is just as functional as the other. So, go with your preference and your budget.
A dress that mimics a two piece creates curves and is easy to coordinate. This one is modern and a nice alternative to a basic sheath. Another little black dress that works for every occasion while still making a statement.
Things are going to change when Uniqlo hits Bellevue Square and people discover the store's awesomeness. These leggings/ pants are a dream. They are cozy, hold up exceptionally well for the price point and can be tossed in the washer and dryer without a second look. They are also an affordable way to branch out into new colors and styles. I like these with, well, the entire list. Do it.
An alternative to animal print flats, these nude pointy toe loafers from Jeffrey Campbell are hip and work with everything. Just right for date night as you can choose whatever outfit you like, confident that these will seal the deal.
I'm recommending the tube skirt. It looks like a dress. But, really, it is a coordinated set. The bold geometric patterns we discussed at a great price point and a color palette straight from your closet. Love this with the black coat over top. Don't stop there. Try the green or blue jackets to maximize the effect.
For a more classic, conservative but not boring work dress, this hits the spot. Both colors are flattering on you and work with the entire list. The cut minimizes your stomach while creating curves. Toss any of the jackets or cardigans on this list into the mix or transform it into a skirt by tossing a cowl neck sweater over top.
Build your own shoes. Swing by the Bellevue Square Nordstrom to exercise your creativity. I can see you loving this. Here's a suggestion, but don't feel restricted by it. Your love of paper, patterns and impact come out here. Go!
Yes, you have an array of lovely tops, but it's always nice to add some new pieces in. This geometric print works well with all the pieces on your list and becomes more shapely with a jacket over top or tucked into a pencil skirt. You can also wear it loose with white skinnies, or the majority of the pants on this list. Try it with culottes!
These trousers can be tossed in the washer and hung to dry. They hold up well over time and the fit is flattering for your figure. Additionally, they have a matching blazer, if you'd like. Naturally, that can be integrated easily into your wardrobe, as well. Try them with the dark purple jacket for maximum awesomeness.
Life can be pretty challenging without a black cardigan. This one can be sophisticated and classic thanks to the length and heels. Just be sure to keep the look from getting frumpy.
Edgy, young (like you!) and super comfortable, this muscle tee can be worn with vegan leather for an uber sexy look that is still crazy comfortable. Alternatively, bring it into the office with colored trousers or a skirt and jacket. It's a great basic that isn't boring.
These pants bring joy. Plus, they come in orange, as well. You love this color and it looks great on you. Plus, it can transition into spring and summer. If you love it, do it. If it seems a little too extreme, not to worry, you have other options.
You on the weekends. Hello mom at a soccer game. Goodbye, Soccer Mom.
As promised.... I like both for you and the price is crazy affordable. The black can get some additional action with Seahawks gear. A jersey, sneakers and your long navy cardigan or vest. Yes and yes.
Like the leggings above, these can go from weekend running around (sneakers) to a night out (heels) effortlessly. Just amp up the accessories and makeup and the rest of your outfit really doesn't need to change much.
Last but not least, game day shoes. Choose from an array of color combinations in either wedges or flats. These look awesome with jeans or skinnies. For wide leg options, opt for the wedges, which are also more current. A jersey or Seahawks tee, white skinnies and the navy cardigan or vest (or both) complete the look. Or, go for the green suede jacket, navy culottes, a Seahawks tee and blue and grey striped shoes. So good!
There you have it: the most fun ever. Each component helps to build a wardrobe that is classic, edgy, unexpected, approachable and is sure to draw compliments. Plus, it is all functional for your day to day. Let me know how it goes!
