Put Together, Confident, Statement-Making, Stylish
And so it begins.
The Closet Edit provided clear direction for your strategy. It's time to ensure that your clothes reflect how successful, bold and inherently stylish you really are. You are so inspiring! I wanted to give you a balance of designer pieces and options that aren't widely available so that you'll be the only one wearing them. You have far more than the 20-30 pieces that comprise a standard uber wishlist, but once I got going, I just wanted you to have options to choose from. While you are welcome to purchase it all, the idea is to let you pick and choose what speaks to you (and fits within your budget) and still ensure you end up with a spectacular new wardrobe that is all you. Here we go!
Step 1: the perfect jacket. I LOVE this leather option from Vince and this bold new blue for spring. It's crazy flattering on your skin, coordinates well with everything and is a stunning high end piece that ups your game whether you rock it with jeans, trousers or a dress. Trust me. It goes with the majority of your wardrobe.
Peplum tops are incredibly flattering for your figure as they show off your tiny waist and ensure you look completely put together. This blue option is sure to make a statement when you enter the room. It also shows off your arms. Try it with jeans, a skirt, dress pants, whatever you like. It's functional and a very high end designer piece. This one is an investment, for sure. They asymmetrical hem is channeling Claire Underwood.
Culottes! There are never enough. You love them and because a white pair is only useful for a short period of time before the rain returns, I'd opt for a less expensive pair. These Chelsea28 are lined and not see through, which is key. I'd also pick up the navy blue option while you are at it. Wear them to work or on the weekends. Your shoe and the dressiness of you top really determines how fancy your outfit will ultimately be. Comfortable. Classy.
I love the idea of you branching out with your shoes. And, this is certainly an area where you can experiment. Because you almost always rock a heel, these bad ass Coclicos are a great choice for the weekends. Handmade in Italy, the quality is stellar and these are celebrated as a very functional walking shoe. (This brand is exceptionally popular with clients.) And, they pair nicely with jeans, skirts, maxi dresses, tapered pants or your leather leggings. In this case, they complete your first look when paired with the pieces above.
There's no need to weigh you down with several new pieces of jewelry. I suggest you give your husband the opportunity to find you the perfect watch. Then, add this cuff into the mix. That's all you need. Unique, expensive and understated, it's sure to draw compliments.
It's true, you tend to opt for pants over skirts and dresses. However, your openness to try something new means that this dress is all you all the time. It's effortless, classy and makes a statement. The half belt shows off your waist and the print is unique. Plus, it's the first of a number of suggestions from Whistles, a UK company that is calling your name. Quality pieces that are not ubiquitous here, this is when you really shine. I love this dress with the blue leather jacket and the Coclico shoes. Of course, it goes with several other options on the list.
You love jumpsuits and they are all the rage right now. Think of these as options for the weekend or the workweek. The jumpsuit on the left has an open back and is cropped. The jumpsuit on the right is more conservative and will work throughout the year. Both, solid choices. Love them both with the wine colored leather jacket below.
Bam! Can you justify two colored leather jackets? Yes, you can. Both of these up your game and can be worn for work or for pleasure. This cropped option has an asymmetrical zipper and is super flattering for your figure. It's also lovely over dresses and with pencil skirts. This is a great way to update your existing suits and make them feel more memorable. Wine is incredible on you and pairs beautifully with grey, navy, black, white, deep purple and fuscia to name a few. You'll see that this is heavy in your rotation. I also love it over the black jumpsuit you already own. Try it with tweed, houndstooth or herringbone. So many options.
LOVE this dress. It's made of jersey so you can style it to be more casual or dressy. Try it with the wine leather jacket above or a traditional blazer. The silhouette is sophisticated and channels Claire Underwood yet again. This is also incredibly functional for weekend trips. Toss a shirt over top and transform it into a skirt. Wear it solo, then try it with a jacket. The options are endless.
Yes! These are very similar to the other Coclico pair and it's unlikely you'll choose both. Just go with whatever interests you as they are both especially functional. You'll find that they are functional and high impact. The nude shoe elongates your legs and is a nice alternative to black, especially during the warmer months. And, it goes with everything.
Cozy and still sophisticated, it's important that you have a few options that feel like your yoga pants so that we can ensure you only wear yoga pants to yoga. This beauty works with white, gray, blue or black jeans, for starters. Try it with either leather jacket. Alternatively, opt for tapered pants which are current and work well on your body. They also feel like yoga pants. So, this outfit is the put-together woman's version of sweats. Go!
Whistles does it again with these wrap trousers. I love a tapered pant and these asymmetrical wrap pants are even better. They show off your small waist with the built in belt and work well with fitted options or something looser. I vote for navy. Try them with either leather jacket and a basic tee or go for a more luxurious top and heels for work.
Some days you just want to be comfortable. This striped seam back tee offers that option and still shows off your style. Tuck it in with the skirt below for a bold summer look. Or, leave it untucked with your leather leggings and the Coclico sandals. (They are great with your leather leggings, by the way.) Layer up this classic look as you please and feel confident that you are both timeless and current. Mind blown.
It has pockets! This print shows off the quality of this feminine and functional skirt. The navy and white print is easy-going and a great look for work or play. It pairs nicely with either leather jacket, a tee and Coclicos. Or, add a cowl neck sweater and boots in the winter. It can go from season to season.
I'm a big fan of Lafayette for the curvier set. One of the only big brands with an African American lead designer, the pants are the perfect fit for women with curves. The quality is great and who doesn't need a good pair of blue jeans?
Thinking about your weekends during the summer as well as beach excursions and Disneyland, for example, I'm all about the romper for you. This wide v is super flattering. This piece not only looks effortless, it is effortless. Just toss on your heels or your slip on sneakers and you are good to go. No decisions to make. And, still, you look stunning and authentic to you.
We discussed the black perforated sneaker during your Closet Edit. Both options are fantastic. It's really about whether or not you want to go the designer route here. The Vans have some street cred with the kids, which I thought might be fun.
And this is where a pastel comes in. Light blue is flattering for you and is a nice contrast to the harder leather pieces. This asymmetrical top is lovely with a pencil skirt, trousers or to dress up jeans. It's professional for work and is hip enough for play.
Yes! Showing off your waist while looking oh so stylish. This skirt is ideal with a tank tucked in. Toss either leather jacket over the top and you are good to go. As an alternative, rock it with a cropped sweater in colder months and add boots.
I do understand that you may not want to wear leather everyday. Not to worry! This asymmetrical jacket is hip and professional simultaneously. Use it instead of your traditional blazer with trousers or a pencil skirt. I also like it over a dress as a more put together option than the standard cardigan.
These are an investment, for sure. So, if you'd rather, opt for wide leg pants from Ann Taylor or the Limited. However, because you prefer pants and you tend to wear them to work, the goal is to give you a luxurious pair of high quality pants that you can wear repeatedly and feel spectacular when you do. I've had clients with your body shape swear by Versace and these pants are ideal for spring and summer. Try them with any of the jackets on the list. Wow.
And while we are in designer-land, have you seen these? The quintessential Valentino is SO you. Available in several colors and with fewer straps, these heels take it to an entirely different level. Sure, you could go with red, green, etc. Feel free to do that if you are so inspired. They work well for your body. I'm suggesting nude as you'll be able to wear them with virtually any outfit. Even the simplest look will be elevated ten fold with these shoes. A big chunk of the budget goes here. But, I expect they'll quickly become favorites.
Oh my goodness! When I saw this, all I could think of was you! Culottes with a deep v neck and highlighting your waist. Yes, please!
We discussed maxi dresses as an option for weekends and vacations. They are so feminine and comfortable. I really love this graphic print for you. This is effortless when you run out the door to soccer practice. Toss a tee shirt over top and transform it into a skirt with your Coclicos or flip flops. It can also be a swimsuit cover up and a nice piece when you are traveling to more casual locales.
Edgy, put-together and warm, this long sleeve sweater is sure to make an impact. I especially like it with leather or vegan leather shorts.
The most useful item for summer ever. Seriously. It's shocking. Try these with any natural fabric- chambray, cotton, etc. to tone it down.
This is your new casual look. We're avoiding yoga pants, but ensuring you are comfortable and that the weekend options are practical. This cozy sweatshirt from Helmut Lang comes in two colors. Sizes in the white seem to be less plentiful- they come and go. Both options are great for you.
A jersey tube skirt. Hello weekend wear. Just toss a loose fitting tee over top and you are set to go. So easy, so flattering.
In the land of more traditional and still really fabulous, peplum tops are flattering for your figure and show off your small waist. Plus, there's no need to fuss with a belt. Love this option from the Limited. Ideal for a more conservative work day when you still want to show off your personal style.
And colored pencil skirts.... you can never have enough. I'm a fan of this bold green for you. But, feel free to go with whatever color strikes your fancy. When you are feeling especially adventurous, opt for this skirt with the blue Vince leather jacket. When you are more interested a feminine spring look, try the light blue top. And for fall and winter, black, navy or grey are bold choices, as well. A great price for a nicely made skirt.
And you thought all the fun was over. You need this. Really. Your very own DVF jumpsuit. Expect it to be in your closet for years to come. A traditional black, brown, white or grey blazer tops this off for a look that is sexy, professional, classy and spectacular all in one. Go for the white jacket on this list to keep things more current and styled. Obviously, it's daring solo and is a nice option for cocktail parties. Forget that black cocktail dress. You are here to be noticed.
Love the look. Love the price. Love the functionality. Try this with the green pencil skirt. Or, opt for the burgundy leather jacket and the grey jeans below. Finish things off with the Coclico shoes. Or, try the culottes or the vegan leather shorts. Mix and match. It all works.
Blue jeans are essential. But, grey jeans are now. Love these from Paige. A great fit for your body and oh so current. Roll them at the ankles or leave them long.
And finally, a couple more maxi dresses. These are intended to replace your yoga pants. Comfortable, useful, sophisticated and fun, these maxis feel like you are wearing your pajamas outside.
And there you have it, the wishlist of dreams. I can't wait to see what you think, what you choose and how you rock these pieces. You are sure to make a statement whenever you enter a room. Onward!
