 Bold Cutout Bikini set. Forever21 +. $29.80

Dear Reader,

It’s finally getting to that point in the year here in the Pacific Northwest where we can begin to find swimming a feasible past time. Whether you are jet setting off on vacation to a truly warm beach climate, or staying at home and enjoying a pool or lake, getting outfitted can be intimidating. For those of us looking for cute yet supportive swimwear shopping can  be a daunting task, especially since most places do not sell plus size swimwear in store.

Let's begin with a note of encouragement. After all, swimsuit season can be daunting for many of us no matter what our size: Please remember that like your work or everyday clothes, having a swimsuit that makes you feel positive and expresses what you want is an essential step in helping you feel better about taking that cover up off. Regardless of one’s size I want to say something quite frankly:

You deserve to enjoy the sun and the beach and swimming and snorkeling. Do not miss out on the fun experiences of summertime and vacation by covering up and holding back. Wear what makes you comfortable whether rash guards or shorts or skimpy bikinis. You are beautiful and deserve to enjoy your time.

Now, let's talk about some great choices for plus size swimwear. Ever since last summer there has been an explosion of great swim choices becoming available for the plus size woman. Swim suits are an investment so keep trying until you find one that makes you feel good and will stay put while jumping in waves and surfing and scuba diving and all that summer fun!

My 4 Favorite Swimsuits for Plus Size Woman

Swim Sexy Jardin High Waist Bikini. Swimsuitsforall.com. $78

1. Bikinis. Yes, you can.

I’m going to dive in (hehe) with a daring option for the woman who is ready for all the sun and all the curves! This beauty comes from Swimsuits For All. The site has an amazing selection that includes a wide range of bikinis and midkinis aimed at the plus size woman. Each one celebrates your figure while offering support and some coverage. Plus they let you pick a different size for your top and bottom! An added bonus: the straps are detachable for sunbathing.

Day Night Sip Front One Piece. Nordstrom. $138.

2. Sporty Chic.

Interested in rocking the current Sporty Chic trend? For my next trick I have for you a great little one piece that offers more coverage without skimping on style. The classic monochrome color scheme will always be flattering. Personally, I’m also a big fan of little details, take a look at those neat cut out straps! This is a great option for active swimmers or moms who are constantly leaning over since it is going to stay in place.

Flip Turn It Up One Piece. Modcloth.com. $119.99

3. The Swim Dress.

For those who prefer more coverage, a swim dress is a great option. This one balances function with fashion. The fun pattern and ruffle detail are attractive and young. While the halter neck offers great support. Looking to downplay your tummy? The side ruching and print help camouflage.

4. The Perfect Cover Up

Lastly, you'll need something to throw on when you go to get drinks at the tiki bar or drive to the beach. When searching for the perfect cover up, look for materials that are lightweight and are going to be quick drying. Here is one of my favorites.

There has been such an increase in variety of plus size swim wear in the last year and I wish you the best in finding one that makes you feel like the gorgeous beach goddess that you are.

ASOS Curve Beach Swing Dress in Cheesecloth. Asos.com. Also comes in Cobalt. $47.64.

Happy Shopping,

Jordan
