My Favorite Things Right Now

Flatforms! One of my favorite things, for sure. Acne Studios Tarou. Available in orange, yellow. Solestruck. Was: $669 Now: $569.

Who knows why I own a gorgeous three piece suit? I don't. And, by three pieces I mean a skirt, trousers and jacket that all coordinate. After all, I'm a personal stylist. I don't have any conservative corporate events to attend. I'm not representing another entity. I'm representing myself. And, so began my extreme closet edit. That and a few more of my very favorite things right now. Off we go!

My Very Favorite Things Right Now

All sorts of clothes I love but no longer love for me. And, now, they are at YouthCare.

1. The Extreme Closet Edit to benefit YouthCare.

I mentioned it, so why not kick things off by talking about the car filled with clothes that I just donated to YouthCare yesterday. Sure, I take clothes to YouthCare all the time, right? This was different. This was a car filled with my clothes (and one bag from my husband for good measure). I took an ax to my closet. And, might I say it feels good.

Merci Marie Handbags. Charlize Large Tote. Nordstrom Rack. Was: $650 Now: $299.

2. Treating your handbags like they are on display.

I often tell clients that your closet should feel like a boutique curated just for you. Well, that includes handbags. I recently discovered that I needed easier access to the handbags that remained after my major closet cleanse. Well, fewer pieces means more opportunity to display items as the lovely artifacts they truly are. Using bubble wrap and paper, I stuffed each bag and placed it on a shelf. Now, they look so beautiful I can hardly choose which one to use each day. And, if I run out of packaging to send a gift, I know just where to look.

The Shoe That Grows. TheShoethatGrows.org. $30 or less depending on quantity.

3. The shoe that grows.

Have you seen this? It's mind blowing. Originally intended to help ensure that children in the third world have shoes as their feet grow, the shoe that grows is also available for kids with more means. The small pair works for a child from kindergarten to 4th grade. The large pair works from 5th grade to 9th grade. Believe it! Donate a pair to a child in need or grab a pair for you little one, if you like. Love.

Topshop Floral Print Culottes. Topshop. $60.

4. Bold floral prints.

It just goes to show, you never know what trends will inspire you. Last year, I purchased a bold floral jumpsuit. And, now it's all about the floral maxi dresses, jumpsuits and pants. I'm into the joggers, but the options are really endless. And, just because I'm a triangle body shape, I won't be denied the euphoria that accompanies wearing bold floral pants. In the words of our son, "no way, Jose." Instead, I opt for a horizontal striped shirt on top to balance out my proportions. Or, I go for a leather tunic to elevate the look.

You could look this cool thanks to Finerie CoLab .

5. Mother's Day!

You'll see more about my master plans for Mother's Day. Most importantly, we've got a Mother's Day photo shoot with mother/ daughter clients AND a give away in partnership with Finerie CoLab. That's right. You could win $100 gift card for mom and a $100 gift card for you simply by following Poplin on social media (one entry per follow/like on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) and by signing up to receive the Poplin newsletter.

Looking for the perfect gift for your mom? Or looking for the ideal option to ask for as your Mother's Day gift? Poplin styling packages are all the rage. Hear what this mom thinks about the Poplin gift package her daughter gave her.

SIXTYSEVEN Lisa Leather Platform Sandals. Nordstrom. $89.

6. Flatforms.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, flatforms and platforms are truly gifts from above. Right now I'm obsessed with my white pair. They allow me to wear especially long maxi dresses, jumpsuits and flared jeans without needing a heel. For days running around with my son, that's essential. And, they are oh so comfortable.

Acne Studios Ilona 85 Chunky Heels. Opening Ceremony. $670. An option for WEAVE Walk A Mile in Her Shoes 2015.

7. Generous men.

Indeed. Generous men are a favorite all year long. But, right now I'm especially loving some creative ways men are giving back. First, a friend of mine will be one of 1,000 men walking a mile in high heels to raise funds critical funds for WEAVE, Inc. - the Sacramento area's premiere provider of services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. He'll also be part of setting a world record for the largest group of men walking a mile in high heels! Yes, I like to focus locally. But, hey, this is pretty great. Am I right? (Go Ed!)

Second, I continue to love and appreciate the women who host and attend clothing swaps to benefit our styling sessions at YouthCare. I keep hearing from men who want to participate but aren't as enthusiastic about clothing swaps. Enter clothing drives while watching the game. That's right. When fellas are hosting a crowd to watch a sporting event, they simply ask friends to bring clothes to donate. So easy, so productive and a great excuse to get together with friends. Bam!

V Neck Jumpsuit. (navy blue!) The Limited. Was: $118 Now: $82. I'm wearing this right now!

8. Easy Ways to Give Back.

I know, this list seems awfully theme-y. Give back. Give back. But, I'm in the zone right now and so is everyone else, it seems. I'm THRILLED to share that the Limited at Southcenter is hosting a Clothing Drive to benefit YouthCare tomorrow Friday, April 24th from 4-8PM. Shoppers, that means YOU, will receive an additional 15% off of your purchase as a thank you for your clothing donation. (Menswear and women's clothing and accessories are accepted.) Keep in mind, YouthCare's Prom is right around the corner. Sounds like the perfect opportunity to finally part with all those bridesmaid's gowns.....

And there you have it. Right now, it's all about looking spectacular while you share the love. Off you go, Dear Reader. Make me proud!
