10 Fall 2018 Trends. Go!
As a personal stylist for women, I'm all about finding new ways to help a woman express herself through her clothing. Fall is major. The change in weather means the kids are back in school and it is officially time to start fantasizing about Fall Fashion Trends. Whether you are a fan of jumping on the latest trend or you prefer to just sit back and enjoy the magic, this fall is sure to treat you right. Off we go!
10 Fall Fashion Trends
1. Western Inspired
Whether you are looking at Texas-style western boots or a Pendleton shirt, this trend is sure to make you feel like going to see the Old 97s or building a barn. (Oh wait, that's me.) Your choice.
2. Feathers
The last few years, we've seen an array of bird prints. Now, your accessories will actually mimic birds. From (real or fake) ostrich feathers on handbags and shoes or Native American- inspired earrings, feathers are plentiful.
3. Oversized Pieces
Large and in charge, this nod to the 90's is all around. No, it isn't flattering for your body type. But, it can be fun.
4. Little House on the Prairie
This blog post is starting to feel like a book review. Whether or not you were infatuated with Laura Ingalls Wilder (I was more of a Michael Landon fan), you can most likely see this image in your mind. And, yes, that's the trend. Long sleeved tops with ruffles going down the front, plaid patterns, ankle boots that remind you of the 1800's, and so on. Boho is going prairie.
5. Lace
If your personal style is polished and sexy, these trends likely haven't spoken to you. Not to worry, lace is coming back. So, there's that. It's time to reintroduce your lace top or skirt to your wardrobe.
6. Hip English Countryside
If we're going full force with Americana, we might as well also give some love to jolly old England. Expect to see patterned, menswear inspired blazers paired with cable knit sweaters. (Yes, I do know those sweaters aren't actually from England.) Add in current eyeglass frames, a pair of Docs or other edgy English boots and you are good to go. I recently saw an episode of Grand Designs, which is glorious is you are into that sort of thing, and an Irish architect and farmer built his very swanky modern house out of a shipping container on his family's farm. He was really the male version of this trend.
7. Plaid
It's clearly coming up in the mix. 90's inspired plaid, Western plaids, those you see on the prairie or in the English Countryside- they are all appearing in Fall collections.
8. Floral Prints
Bold florals continue to shine this year. Try mixing them up with other trends that speak to you. Perhaps a menswear-inspired plaid blazer and a floral print blouse. Or, just let florals speak for themselves in a long sleeve print dress or jumpsuit.
9. Silk Scarves
Perhaps I should have led with this one because it's such big news. I've had so many clients who have beautiful print scarves sitting in boxes and drawers waiting to be current again. Wait no longer. Scarves are back and you are free to tie them up or down as you please.
10. Quilting Patterns
It's true. You can group this together with a few of the trends listed above. But really, quilting patterns are distinctive. I'm happy to discuss them with you all day long. Until then, enjoy this wild collection of Fall Trends and get ready for a whole new season of blog posts.
