Get Ready to Lose Some of Your Favorites at Northgate Mall, But Not All of Them

As a personal stylist, Northgate Mall is just one of the places I consider my stomping ground. The mall opened in 1950 as the first suburban shopping mall in the country. You know it well. That’s mostly because you can drive, park for free and shop efficiently. That’s also why the chain stores at that location get a whole lot of returns. It’s true, things are changing at Northgate. And they are changing fast. Here’s what you need to know. (Wondering what’s going on? This Seattle Times article gives you the details. )

Your Favorites that are Closing at Northgate Mall

Word on the street is that everything south of Bed Bath and Beyond is staying open and everything north is closing. Although, when I checked with some individual stores, they weren’t quite sure. Of course, you’ll want to double check that before you head out to your favorite store. This is a great time to cash in on some stellar sales for the stores that are closing.

  1. Nordstrom

Sure, it’s been there for 59 years. But, it will be gone on August 9th, 2019.

  2. Macy’s

Up to 50% off nearly the entire store. It’s closing the end of July.

  3. Torrid

Say goodbye to the only Torrid store in Seattle proper. That means one less location to try on plus size clothing. Plan for the end of July. Buy 2 get on one free (regular priced items). Buy one get one free (clearance).

  4. Forever XXI

End of July, 2019. 30% off of everything in the store.

There are lots of changes going on with Northgate but remember that there are still stores there. So, your bet bet is to check in before you go.

5. Gap

I’m not sure the last time you hit a Gap store, but if you are looking to stock up, visit by July 29th, 2019.

Some Favorites that Don’t Plan to Close

  1. Nordstrom Rack

  2. DSW

  3. Old Navy

  4. Lane Bryant

Of course, you likely have other favorite mom and pop stores that you love so check with each one directly.
