My Favorite Products Right Now: FACE
As a personal stylist for women, I do love my products. And as an enthusiastic recommender of things, I love sharing my products even more. It’s time for part 2 of our 3 part series on my favorite products right now. This series highlights my absolute obsessions for 1. hair 2. face and 3. body. Love one? Love them all? Have your own to share? Please do!
These Products Make My Memorable Hair Possible
Radical Skincare Eye Revive Cream
The fine lines or crow’s feet around my eyes are minimal and I attribute a big part of that to this product. I’ve been using it for years and can’t see a world where it’s not a regular part of my skincare routine. Full disclosure: I have dark circles under my eyes and I doubt this has any impact on those. Although again, who wants to find out? But dark circles often have more to do with the collagen pads on my face moving downward and the resulting effect of light reflecting off of the new version of my face giving the impression of darker circles. Staying hydrated also helps with those circles and healthy eating. So, the dark circles are an issue. But, thanks to my eye cream, fine lines are not.
m-61 PowerGlow Peel
If I had limitless funds, I’d use the Radical Skincare exfoliating pads for consistency. But, as it turns out, I don’t. And I really do like m-61. The line was created by one of the founders of bluemercury, Marla Malcolm Beck, before bluemercury became part of Macy’s. Fun Fact: Interviewed her a number of years ago. It turns out she has an MBA and an Master’s in Public Administration, which also happens to be my degree. I learned so much and had a very positive experience with these products. The pads are large, so I cut each one in half and use each half once every few days in the evening. Exfoliating too much isn’t ideal, so I opt for every three days or so as part of my evening routine.
Radical Skincare Serums
Again, I’ve been a devoted consumer of Radical Skincare products for about a decade. I alternate between the serums depending on my mood, the availability of the product or the price. After cleansing my face, this is the first step in my skincare process. If it’s time to exfoliate, I’ll do that before applying serum.
Radical Skincare Extreme Repair
Okay, I know. We’re heavy on Radical Skincare and it’s pricey, too be sure. If you’re intrigued but hesitant to spend the money, you can start out with the Radical Skincare Starter Kit. That’s what got me hooked:) So, back to this product. I used to use this at night and the Radical Moisturizer in the morning. Over time, I’ve started using this as my standard moisturizer and it makes my face feel SO good in the morning when I wake up and throughout the day.
Eminence Hydrating Mist
My mother in law has this extraordinary closet in a hallway nicely situated between the guest rooms when we all visit. She keeps it stocked with fun skincare products that she picks up throughout the year. It also has various types of water, different sponges, shampoos, you name it. The first time I experienced this closet nearly 18 years ago, I was truly stunned. Truly. All these years later, we have a cabinet of our own inspired by her self care reservoir. I’ve also added massage machines to ours so that we can have nurturing during TV time when everyone is feeling strung out.
As for my mother in law’s cabinet, it inspires the Gen Z crowd to experiment with products throughout our Christmas visit together. A number of years ago, mists were all the rage. I tried. But, really, I didn’t get it. So, the Stone Crop Hydrating Mist just ended up in our cabinet gathering dust. Then, I learned from Kelly at Cake Skincare that you add the hydrating mist after your moisturizer and before your barrier. In my case, that’s a facial oil. And so, I added the mist into my routine and I’m happy with the results. Once this bottle is gone, I’m ready to try the Age Corrective version.
Radical Skincare Rejuvafirm Facial Oil
Facial oil was a hard sell for so many of us Gen Xers. After all, weren’t we always told that you didn’t want oil? That’s true for teenagers, but as we age, we need the hydration. Adding moisture is essential, but you also need something to keep that moisture in. Enter: the barrier. After applying my eye cream, serum, moisturizer and hydrating mist, it’s time to lock it in with this magical facial oil. Try it. You’ll see.
Elta MD Broad Spectrum Sunscreen
We all know that sun protection is essential. Most sunscreens stop protecting your skin after 80 minutes or so. And, if you read this blog with any regularity, you also know that when I’m not with clients, I’m working out of a glass box in our backyard. Translation: sun. I always carry a small container of sunscreen that easily fits in my bag. The Elta MD sunscreen has been a go-to for a few years. For the last several months, I’ve been very enthusiastic about the stick version. Initially, I bought it as part of the annual pre-summer sunscreen restocking. As it turned out, I just kept it for myself rather than sharing it with the fam. It’s so great to pop on sunscreen without making a mess and the container seems to last forever. It’s easy to pop it on throughout the day.
