Changing Weather, Aging, Stress. These Skincare Products Keep Me Going

LMNT Electrolytes

Hydration is truly essential for me thanks to an autoimmune disease I have. I try to think of it as some kind of blessing because it forces me to really stay on top of my water intake. Fortunately, staying hydrated has a profound impact on my skin. I start each day with a glass of water and an LMNT packet. I prefer Watermelon, Raspberry and Citrus. Fun fact: I really don’t care for melons or melon flavor IRL, but for whatever reason, that LMNT flavor is a good one. When I can, I follow up my initial beverage with another glass of water right away and see a profound impact in how I feel during the day.

When it comes to my skin, staying hydrated means that my skin feels softer and isn’t drying out.

Microgreens are a regular part of my diet. I can see the difference in my skin when I eat them often.

Microgreens

I also eat microgreens several times a week as part of my breakfast and/or lunch. Honestly, I started because I wanted a break from more traditional salads. Then I was hooked. They are great for your skin. Many microgreens, such as broccoli and kale, are high in vitamin A and C. Those are essential for collagen production, which is a must for skincare in your 40’s and beyond. According to the Google, “antioxidants like polyphenols and flavonoids that can help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. This can help prevent premature aging and improve skin texture.” All I know is that my skin looks and feels better when I’m eating them regularly. As an aside, basil microgreens go bad pretty quickly. I find that kale lasts the longest, but feel free to experiment on your own.

Trader Joe’s Body Scrub

Yes! There are much more expensive body scrubs that bring me joy. But, I could buy 10 of these for the same price and I wouldn’t get 10 times the results. Exfoliating is an essential part of my skincare routine. In the winter, it makes my skin softer and in the summer it ensures that I really get my sunscreen off- and keeps my skin smoother:)

A super effective body butter that hydrates my skin and saves lots of cash.

Trader Joe’s Body Butter

Sensing a theme here? I prefer to layer the same scents, when I can. So, I stock up on this duo whenever this scent is available. Otherwise, vanilla and lavender do the job.

A humidifier helps keep my skin hydrated.

A great humidifier

I know this seems insane given that we live in the Pacific Northwest. I need a humidifier to help keep me hydrated. As an added bonus, it helps keep my skin hydrated, too!
