There’s so much information out there about what’s happening right now in Southern California. So, I’m not your source for those details. What I can tell you is that people and the LA County Fire Department need help right now and into the future. So, if you can, please give. Here are three options and of course there are many more. Just be sure to do your research to ensure your donations are going where they are intended.

3 Ways to Support the LA County Fire Department and the People Affected by the Fires

1. Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation

   If you’ve heard stories about these fires, you know how much it’s taking for the fire department to fight them. They need more resources and those cost money. The foundation is “seeking monetary donations to equip firefighters battling the wildfires with items including emergency fire shelters, hydration backpacks and wildland brush tools.”

2. Baby2Baby

   I found this one thanks to the recommendations of Southern California’s own Skims. The organization provides, “diapers, clothing and basic necessities to families in need.” When you’ve lost everything, a pair of clean clothes is a very big deal.

3. California Wildfire Recovery Fund

   If you want to be sure the most vulnerable folks get help, “the foundation’s team utilizes data from CalFire and CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index to ensure their grants target the neediest communities with both intermediate recovery and long-term support.”

We have friends and family impacted by these fires and I expect many of you do, too. Things change quickly, so be sure to check in with them and understand that their needs will continue well after the blazes are contained. Big hug to you all.
