Tis the season to hit multiple holiday parties. That means, you need more than one LRD (little red dress) to get you through. And, of course, if you are feeling especially generous this year, that also likely means that you don’t have a lot of extra cash to spend on a little something for yourself. Not to worry! Here are a few of the moment trends that you can rock that you might just have hiding in the back of your closet.
The best part about shopping your closet? It's always open and it's free. Here's what you are looking for:
1. A drop waist dress.
These are all the rage right now (thank you Katie Holmes) and have that effortless feel that especially appeals to Seattle-ites. And, it's likely that you have one shoved in the back of your closet. Break it out again! Just remember, if you have a triangle shaped body, this look is not for you as it draws attention to your widest part. If that's the case, just layer a button down shirt over top and a bold necklace. Now, it's a flattering skirt.
2. Bold, Personalized or Unusual Jewelry.
Just because you wore that necklace to another party, doesn't mean you can't break it out for this one. Consider styling your jewelry in an unexpected way. For instance, can your necklace double as a bracelet? If you haven't worn bold earrings in a while, now is the time to bring them back into your rotation. And, if you happen to have something monogrammed hiding away, now is the time to break it out. A necklace with your name on it is a nice touch that draws attention to your face. Think Carrie Bradshaw.
3. A Moto Jacket.
By now, you've likely got a motorcycle inspired jacket. Those are still current and are a nice alternative to a wrap or cardigan with your cocktail dress. This is going to convert your look to urban inspired/ relaxed. So, let's be sure that is what you are going for.
4. Pleats.
Believe it. They are everywhere and those of you with inverted triangle body shapes are living the dream with the trend. If you are more of a straight up and down kind of girl (hello, rectangles), pleats aren't so great on you as they make you look even more angular. Make them work by creating curves. Opt for peplum or belted jackets, for instance.
Can't wait to hear how it goes!
