You, Your Personal Stylist & A Tailor Trained in Design.

As a personal stylist, I spend a great deal of time helping my clients strategize. The goal is for her to know why she's making each purchase and how each piece helps communicate her vision. If you've ever started at a dress in your closet that still has the tags on or looked at the shoe box in your closet with unworn shoes, you can relate to the need for strategy. If you don't use the clothes, the money is simply wasted.

But, you don't always need to toss the item and start over. Many pieces can not only be salvaged, they can be celebrated. In fact, I've been thinking a lot about this lately as client after clients reaps the benefits of working with my tailor AND me as we bring new life to their existing wardrobes.

5 Reasons YOU Need Time With Poplin and

My Tailor of Dreams

1. You own pieces that  you don't wear, but still secretly want to.

If you have a skirt that is a little tight in the hips and loose in the waist, you have a piece that could use a little tailoring. A great tailor goes way beyond hemming. We're talking about making pieces fit you to perfection, elevating your style without buying something new.

2. You struggle to "see" what this piece could become.

I work exclusively with my favorite tailor, Laura. She and I meet at a client's home and collaborate with her on any pieces that aren't living up to their full potential. Laura owns several tailoring shops AND was trained in fashion design. We work together to see the potential in items and how they can better communicate your personal style. Sometimes, that means turning a designer dress that you NEVER wear into a top that you wear regularly, as with one of my clients.

3. You'd rather own fewer high quality pieces than lots of fast fashion.

I hear this request often. Sometimes, we confuse "higher quality" with a higher price point. In that case, women can assume that they don't have the resources for high quality goods. One way to make your clothes last longer is to make them work better for you. If a pair of pants don't fit,  you'll end up replacing them with another pair of pants. Hopefully, the new ones fit better. But, that's not always the case. Alternatively, you'll decide that, "they are fine," and just wear them repeatedly. When you choose this option, it's hard to feel good about your look and sometimes, your figure. Ill fitting pieces often make us feel like we are somehow less than perfect. Not true, Dear Reader. It's not you, it's the clothes. And, clothes, can be fixed.

4. You're on a budget.

Buying new clothes and having them tailored can elevate your look because each piece feels more luxurious and expensive than it actually is. For instance, I created an Uber Wishlist for one of my clients consisting of pieces from Eloquii, Boden and Old Navy. Then, Laura came in and we transformed the pieces making even a sweater from Old Navy fit like a designer find. Oh yeah, you can tailor sweaters.....

5. You're ready to invest in yourself.

The first time you have your makeup professionally done, you can't believe what a difference it makes. Or, how about having a professional color your hair instead of doing it on your own? Think back to the first time you got a facial or invested in a really high quality pair of shoes. These are all examples of life lessons that we wish we'd learned long before we often do.

I'm constantly thrilled at watching my clients experience the transformation of time with Laura and me. Because I know each client's budget, body type, lifestyle and the look she's going for, I'm able to collaborate with a very skilled and talented tailor to make sure she looks her best. I must say that I'm LOVING this experience so much lately, that I've decided to open up this service to new clients. Yup. If you aren't a Poplin client, but you'd like to schedule time with Laura and me, you are now encouraged to do so. In fact, you simply pay the Poplin hourly styling rate for the first visit (when Laura and I work to create your new looks). Then, Laura will return a few weeks later with your altered pieces. And, have I mentioned that this all takes place at your house?

Take a look at the updated Poplin Services page for more details.  It really is life-changing.
