If you only buy one thing right now, buy….
A Fashionable and flattering coat.
After all, when you are out and about, your coat and shoes may be the only thing people see. Entering a room filled with strangers? If it's winter in Seattle, you are wearing your coat. So, use it to make the very best first impression. Here are a few of my favorites right now:
The name says it all. Get cozy while still current. I like this one because it looks more expensive than it is. I love the light color to keep it chic and sophisticated. It can easily look conservative and formal for a dressy office or relaxed for the weekend or a more casual lifestyle.
I have loved this coat for months. In person, the color is even more flattering and the texture gives it a vintage edge. Depending on how you style this one, you can make it funky or more intentional. Don't let the blue dissuade you. It looks smashing with orange, pink, yellow or bright green if you are looking for a pop. Alternatively, make is sophisticated with neutrals. This one draws attention without being loud.
Do it. If you don't have a classic trench and you live in our city, you are missing out. Wear this year after year. The price is incredible and it would look amazing with- well, virtually anything. So, there's that. A beautiful outfit covered up with a Northface shell is not doing you any favors.
Hello classic and confident. There are few things that I love as much as a white coat. Don't think you can do it? Oh, trust me, you can. If white looks better on you than ivory- this is your coat. Pair with colored pants or black. You'll be surprised how many items that coordinate easily with this piece. Plus, looking for something to make your colored handbag pop? Black trousers and this coat do the trick.
If you are the kind of woman who can make it outside without a heavier coat, this is for you. It's terry fleece! What? Yes! You are essentially wearing your bathrobe to the office. But, the only one who knows it is you. Menswear inspired looks are everywhere right now and this is your way in. Add a scarf and you are good to go. Try a contrasting color in your shoe to mix things up. Alternatively, try a look inspired by this one (darker jean, simpler striped top) and rock a handbag that matches your blazer. Or add a pair of leopard flats. The options are endless.
