Commemorate the Holiday With Your Very Own Valentino.

Ooo la la. This Valentino could be yours. Click photo to eBay.

For those of you who've been following Poplin on Facebook, you've certainly noticed my recent obsession with Citizen Rosebud, reseller of vintage and pre-loved clothing. I have her to thank for three coats in the last month. So, you can imagine my excitement when she told me that she had two, not one, but TWO Valentino dresses that she had yet to list for sale.

Valentine's Day. Valentino. It's not a huge reach to get from one to the other. Add in incredible hair and make-up artist, Hanna Mazur, and we have a full on photo shoot. (By the way, you'll see more of Hanna's work in this Sunday's post.)

Don't know much about Valentino? Well, several friends and readers highly recommend, "Valentino: The Last Emperor," available on Netflix. Personally, I love documentaries but with a little one in the house, having a couple of hours to watch one is a rare occasion. Sometimes we need a little encouragement to make the time for something that brings us such pleasure.

With that in mind, here are a few teasers to get you excited about the incredible work and life of Valentino.

1. Valentino: The Last Emperor Trailer.

I can tell you about the movie all day, but it won't be anything close to the trailer. And, I'll bet you have 3 minutes at your desk to hear more statements like this one by the man himself, "I know what women want…. they want to be beautiful."

Buy it on eBay. $249 or best offer.

2. Valentino Master of Couture Part 1. Part 2. Part 3.

Oh, this is good! An entire exhibition on Valentino including 130 couture outfits, personal correspondence and photography opened at Sommerset House on November 29, 2012. Couture is a system of making clothes that doesn't rely on machines at all, and Valentino has been described as the last great couture of the 20th century.

Each part of this three part mini-documentary features one of the three curators of the exhibition. The level of attention that was involved in the process is impressive. For instance, the mannequins were different colors, each color representing a different decade to help you quickly identify the decade in which the piece was made.

3. Get Your Own.

One of my favorite things about Citizen Rosebud is that she is not simply a vintage/ pre-loved reseller. She is a curator herself. With a discerning eye for what is beautiful, stylish and often, made in America. She just posted these two pieces so Poplin readers would be in the know. The cream jacket is also available. Additionally, she has seemingly endless finds that have yet to be posted. Clients have special access to her collection and Poplin readers receive 10% off when using the codeword: Poplin. Have a special request? Feel free to reach out to her directly and tell her Poplin sent you.

Enjoy your Valentine's Day, your love of fashion and keep in mind the words of Valentino, "I love beauty. It's not my fault."
