Seattle Sunday Winner: The Chambray Bowtie from Winslow

What to Wear with a Bowtie. Go!

1. Something that communicates you are a man's man.

Just like soft with hard or leather with lace, balance the bow tie with something masculine. Above, our son is wearing my husband's handmade bow tie from Winslow. He just wore it for our Kitchensurfing dinner party on Saturday (more on that in a future post). It was perfectly paired with a denim shirt, slim fitting grey AG jeans and black work boots.

I'm a big fan of the blazer and bow tie. In this summer weather, keep things light. How about colored twill pants or jeans that are rolled at the ankles with wing tips. This time we're balancing classic buttoned up styles with something that's a little more relaxed. 

3. Something that shows you take yourself very seriously. And that's just fine.

Yes, friends. A bow tie with a suit can be magical. As with all things, make sure that your look communicates your personal style. And, make sure that you own it. Without question, the most important rule for rocking a bow tie is to own that bow tie. If you don't believe you look dapper, no one else will either. So, go into the whole thing with confidence or don't go in at all.
