Get Your Shopping On.
Things are crazy in Poplin-land right now. Why? You ask. It is full blown summer. That means that when a new client is ready to transform her look, she's also ready to do it quickly before her upcoming vacation. It's all adrenaline all the time. And, what type of adrenaline could be more satisfying than that associated with shopping? For me, none.
But there are additional factors that make this a special time to pay attention. As your very own personal stylist, it is only right that I share this news with you, Dear Reader, just in case you missed it.
Reasons to Shop Right NOW.
1. Anniversary Sale at Nordstrom.
You know you are a Seattle-ite when you can recall the timing of the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale as easily as your spouse's birthday. Every July, Nordstrom does something spectacular. The retailer releases pieces for fall at discounted prices. Card holders get early access from July 9th to July 16, 2015. You also earn double points toward Nordstrom Notes while you shop!
From July 17th to August 2nd, the general public can purchase the season's most stylish goods at a discount. Don't delay. Pieces go fast. And, after the sale is over, it all goes up to full price. Prepare to be devastated when you hold off on a piece, it's out of stock, then full price when it returns. I've seen it before. Feeling anxious? Ease your pain by becoming a Nordstrom card member now. And you earn points as you shop. Don't get me started on the benefits of this one.
2. Amazon Prime Day.
On July 15th, Amazon celebrates the very first Amazon Prime Day. The idea is to rival black Friday. Who knows if this is true? But, it's certainly not a random occurrence that Amazon Prime Day takes place right in the middle of Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale or in July, one of the slowest months for Amazon's retail sales. Amazon prime members (and that pretty much means all of us) have access to crazy deals all day. You also enjoy SAME DAY delivery. What?!
They say deals will change throughout the day, so act fast. Not a prime member? You can still join:)
3. Melissa McCarthy launches Seven7 for women of all sizes.
You go, Sookie!
This highly anticipated line from comedianne Melissa McCarthy has a goal to bring affordable fashion to straight and plus sized women. (So far, I'm seeing mentions of pieces from small to 3X.) Interestingly, McCarthy's background is actually in fashion having dropped out of FIT to pursue comedy. She's had clothes made for herself for years. With so many clients who struggle to find pieces they love as they move from size 14 (where most straight size retailers and boutiques top off) to 16 (typically available at department stores or plus size retailers), it's thrilling to see current designs available for all. The line launches in August. See more at Melissa McCarthy's website or on Sunrise Brands in the coming months.
4. Eddie Borgo for Target
If your style inspirations tend toward Sienna Miller or Blake Lively, or if you include, "boho" as a descriptor of your own personal style, you'll likely be a fan of the new collection by Eddie Borgo for Target. Launching July 12th, the designer's geometric accessories include jewelry and handbags. Just when you think you are just running into Target for toothpaste.....
5. re-souL's clogs are finally here!
After all this time together, Dear Reader, you know how much I adore a good pair of clogs. And, the most common request of new clients, "comfortable shoes, please." Ballard boutique re-souL focuses on well made, comfortable and hip shoes. Beyond Coclico and the like, the re-souL crew has also started developing a line of their own. And they are life-changing. I grabbed a pair for myself a few days ago. They are exceptionally lightweight with 5mm of cushion. And, the closed toe ensures they are functional year-round. You won't find these at chain stores. Swing by re-souL or shop online before they are gone. And, of course, let Maggie and the team know that Poplin sent you for a little extra love.
And there you have it. It's going to be tough to get through the next few months without diving into enjoy the new trends at our fingertips. Still loving summer gear? Well, this is also an ideal time to shop for those as the vast majority of retailers are selling warm weather pieces at discounted prices as they prepare to make room for fall collections.
