Must Know Now.
Man, my life is filled with hot tips. As a personal stylist for women, I'm fortunate to learn about all sorts of innovative, surprising and delightful things. Thanks very much to those of you who send info my way and to all of you for listening when I offer up ideas. My list of cool things is getting too long to manage, so I'm going to share it with you here and recycle the piece of paper. Let's hear it for efficiency.
Super Cool Things That are Top of Mind Right Now.
1. Learn to Make Shoes!
This is everything. If you are looking for a fun adventure on your own or with some friends, how about heading off to PDX to learn to make super hip sandals? Or a leather bracelet? Rachel Sees Snail Shoes offers workshops or private classes and you walk out the door with a very cool pair of shoes. Not feeling so crafty? You can order a custom pair for yourself or choose from the styles online. So good.
2. Shop Where the French do.
A very good friend of ours is French and has incredible taste. She and I like to commiserate about style, music, food and our children (especially because we each have a Samuel and they were born two days apart from one another). She gave me a heads up that one of her favorite French brands is now available in the US at various retailers and will soon ship stateside directly. Take a look at Claudie Pierlot.
3. $20 lash fills.
I've heard some very strong support for the Lash Parlour in Burien. A good friend has been going there for over a year and getting her weekly lash fill for $20 each time. Woah. I checked out the online reviews, also good. If you make your way there, share your story as I haven't been. But, man, that's a deal.
4. Find Uncommon Pieces.
If fashion forward designers are your thing and local fav Baby & Co. makes you smile, you can find similar brands online at Upstairs on 7th.
5. Meet Extraordinary Women.
I am LOVING Seattle's recent upsurge in female entrepreneur energy. If you or someone you know works on her own, she'll find a whole lot of love and support at the F-Bomb Breakfast Club and the Riveter. The F-Bomb meets once a month and informs, energizes and connects local female entrepreneurs. The Riveter is a gorgeous new co-working space the aims to help female entrepreneurs succeed by offering space to be productive, classes (from podcasting to yoga) and a rare opportunity to spend your work time also meeting motivated and encouraging peers.
