Connecting Through Style: Workshops & Talks for Real Women, Real Life

Style advice for groups, big and small—tailored to your needs.

My journey as a speaker began at thirteen, running for Student Council and addressing crowds of 300 students all morning long. Since then, I’ve loved sharing insights and connecting with audiences of every size.

At Poplin Style Direction, a trusted personal stylist in Seattle for women, we believe that just like personal styling, every presentation and workshop should be thoughtfully tailored to fit the unique needs of your group. Whether you want an intimate conversation, a panel participant, or a dynamic workshop for a large group, I’m here to help.

What to Expect

Each talk or workshop is customized for your group and includes a Q&A session. Here’s a peek at what we often cover, but every event is designed with your audience in mind.

Core focus:

The Poplin System — a personalized, sustainable approach to personal styling for women that simplifies your wardrobe using filters like authentic personal style keywords, body type, color palette, budget, lifestyle, and values. This method saves time and money, reduces stress, and helps you build a wardrobe that truly works for you.

From there, we build on your group’s specific needs — whether it’s an online personal stylist for women workshop or an in-person event, focused on life stage, industry, or more — so attendees walk away with clear, actionable steps to simplify their wardrobes and their lives.

Real Experience, Real Impact

For seven years, I volunteered with YouthCare and FareStart, leading style workshops for young people (ages 14–24) facing homelessness. We talked about real-life situations—like what to wear to a job interview or your first day at work—and thanks to donated clothing (often from my generous clients), participants could leave with pieces that made them feel confident and seen. That work deepened my understanding that style challenges are universal—and everyone deserves to feel good in what they wear.

What Others Are Saying

“As a personal stylist for women affiliated with Leading Women in Technology, Mellicia understands the specific style struggles women in tech face. She surveyed the audience’s biggest challenges getting dressed and offered concrete advice to help women communicate who they are through style—and use that power to kill it at work and in life.”
Susan Seah, Attorney, Leading Women in Technology

“Mellicia spoke at Amazon's Health Matters Wellness Conference, sharing her secrets in Body Image & Confidence: Defining and Creating Values. In just an hour, she transformed how the audience and I think about clothing’s power to reflect our values, communicate without words, mirror our personalities, and change the way we feel about ourselves.”

In Good Company: Brand & Community Partnerships

I love collaborating with brands and organizations that share Poplin’s commitment to authenticity, confidence, and connection. While the Poplin System helps clients shop with intention—reducing waste and aligning with their personal values—each partnership is rooted in meeting real people where they are. That means working with a range of brands, from small boutiques focused on local production to national retailers and luxury labels.

Past partnerships have included a range of brands and boutiques championing inclusive sizing for women’s clothing and diverse style including:

Boutiques & Inclusive Brands
