When you are out and about doing some retail therapy, you are likely well aware of the velvet trend. And this is the ideal time of year for it. As a personal stylist, I'm seeing a whole lot of velvet and I must say, I like it. The fabric works for varying personal styles and keeps you nice and cozy. Plus, who doesn't love an opportunity to touch soft fabrics in the middle of a challenging day? For you, my Dear Reader, here are some tips for embracing fall's velvet trend.
Do Velvet.
1. On Your Feet.
There will never be enough opportunities for me to talk about the blue velvet booties at re-souL. And they are just the beginning. Look for patterned and solid options that are equally compelling for work, play or celebrations.
2. To Keep You Warm and Polished.
What beats a velvet blazer or trench? This sophisticated take on the traditional blazer is a fun way to embrace cold weather without looking sloppy. Consider mixing and matching with distressed jeans to make this an everyday piece. Or, go full force with a silk top, leather skirt and boots. You look hot while you stay warm. I'd call that a win.
3. To Show Confidence.
Velvet pants. Check. Velvet dress. Check. Velvet Jumpsuit. Check. Velvet heels. Check. Whatever your jam, fearlessly rocking velvet shows that you know who you are and where you are going. Of course, you do actually want to know where you are going so that these aren't overdressing for the occasion. But, if you are heading to a cocktail party, a black tie event, a New Year's party or other opportunities to dress up, embrace this chance to go all out. Remember, if you don't have an occasion to justify buying that dress, get the dress and create the occasion.
