Are you seeing this? I sure am. As a personal stylist and solo-preneur in Seattle, I'm fortunate to spend my days with incredible, inspiring women. I must admit, over the years, I've become very fond of my adopted  hometown. But, every once in a while, the interweb reminds me of my previous life, decades ago, in Northern California. That also happens to be the home of a strong, creative woman, Mindi Steiner

Mindi and I spent years running in the same circles, watching bands, drinking coffee. She was a year ahead of me in school and went off to college to learn to do visual displays. She was the first person I had ever met that did anything like that and I remember being both thrilled and shocked that there were careers that allowed you to create something in the fashion-world other than designing clothes. She was a real inspiration to me then. Over the years, I've vaguely known that she continued to follow her passions and live in the city.

Once I dove into personal styling and running my own business, I continue to think very highly of her ambition, expressiveness and abilities. And, now, the world gets to see what I see thanks to Kendall Jenner and Dolce and Gabbana.

Mindi created the headdress for this shoot. Here's a photo of her making it all happen. It's beautiful. Not just because of the aesthetics; but also because it is a visual representation that when you follow your own path, everyone benefits.

P.S. Are you entered to win a $300 gift card from Universal Standard? The brand carries sizes 6-32 and is a Poplin favorite. See details here. Good luck!
